Snowboard Maintenance

If you want your snowboard to work like the fine piece of equipment that it is then you need to do some upkeep on it to keep it in top form. Here are some tips to get you started.

As soon as you get a chance after your snowboarding run you should takethe time to fix any scratches on your board. This will prevent any further damage of your snowboard and dramatically increase the life of your board. You can find repair kits at your local board shop or online.

If you ever get the chance it’s a good idea to sharpen the borders of your snowboard as this will make it easier for you to turn your board. You can use a board sharpening tool they sell at board shops or have the job done professionally.

Apply a fresh coat of wax whenever possible to your snowboard by first removing the old wax. There are several types of waxes for you to use and two types of methods you can apply them with. The hot wax method works best on a snowboard that feels like sandpaper against the snow while cold works best before a shred sesh. Wax protects your snowboard from the harsh snow but it will also help your snowboard execute a lot better then without it.

It’s a good thought to carry a towel to dry your snowboard after a session. You can extend the life of your board and your bindings by wiping them down and drying them after all of your sessions. Your board and bindings will last you much longer if you keep it dry and prevent water damage.
